19 of Medvedev's 21 victories have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the big events and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Currently working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This marks his initial championship after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after that period of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I'm at a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," said ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his ability to compete at the top level was concluded.

However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to force a final set.

Moutet rescued 4 initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net area, with Moutet incapable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
